If gas prices go up you are bound to be miserable.  If the home you live in drops in value, that doubles your woes.  And if you can’t get a job you are really blue. In its Misery Across the U.S. story, the Wall Street Journal ties these three together to create the Misery Index. Phoenix is really down in the dumps, followed closely by Seattle and Portland.  Who knew?
